By now you might have heard the news that I Am Gangster has found a distributor in Filmbuff, Cinetic’s film distribution label. And we couldn’t be more excited about that. We made a good movie, but we’ve also been very fortunate to close this deal. I don’t need to get into details of what that means on paper but rest assured we’ll have to work really hard, and we’ll need some more good fortune to get it seen by as many people as possible.
It’s a significant achievement for us to have found such an incredible home for IAG. Cinetic is a well-regarded company, knee-deep in the independent film world, from financing to sales of quality motion pictures, with Filmbuff as their digital distribution arm:
“We distribute compelling video and films across all media, with a focus on the digital space. Our deep relationships within the creative community provide access to cutting-edge content that consistently informs, entertains and inspires audiences around the world."
I’m told these guys don’t fare so bad when it comes to integrity and trustworthiness, especially compared to an industry often described as a “shark tank”. They’ve been very patient and accommodating in regards to our legal needs, we were able to retain control over some aspects of the release and we’re holding on to rights dear to a filmmaker’s heart.
In addition to the great people at Cinetic/Filmbuff, we’re in good company cinematically as well. Take a look. So without heaping too much premature praise on the ‘buffs, many of the variables check out, especially in this uncertain distribution landscape that we find ourselves in today. Considering the common industry MO I really can’t ask for more.
Obviously I’ll let you guys know when we have a release date later this year. Stay tuned!
